What is the Import... command?

A file can be imported to the Thumbnails Window. If you wish to import all the files and sub-folders with their files contained in that file's folder then click the Open All button. Executed with [ O].

What is the Import From Desktop command?

This imports all files passing the Import-Open filter from the Desktop Folders of all available local volumes. Folders and their sub-folders on the Desktop are searched also. This works well with application software which put downloaded files on the Desktop, such as NewsWatcher. Executed with [ D]. If you need to assign hot-keys for importing from other folders besides the Desktop Folder,

• Though on the Finder Desktop, aliased folders, entire volumes, shared disk Desktop Folders, and the trash will not be searched.

What is the Export... command?

The collection of imported thumbnails in the Thumbnails Window can be saved as a media catalog, contact-sheet image file, HTML web page, or linked HTML web pages. Use the Type: pop-up menu to choose the saved file's type and image characteristics. The Save Thumbnails As: file name defaults to the name of the containing folder of the first thumbnail. Output is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) excepting for the animating file types: GIF (Animated) and QuickTime Movie. Executed with [ K].

• Italics indicates format not implemented in this version.

1. Multiple files can be generated by positioning the file divider gadget in the Thumbnails Window at the desired row to break between. File naming as name n of m . extension , Example. image 1 of 3.jpg, image 2 of 3.jpg, etc. or test_images_1of2.html
2. The application software named in the HTML Browsing Via button of the HTML panel of the Settings Window is launched if necessary and instructed to display the first index page or image. Note 1 also applies.
3. If the original image's dimensions are less than or equal to the thumbnail's, than a thumbnail image file will not be created, instead, the original image will be copied. Note 2 also applies.
4. If the original image is moved to another volume or trashed after the creation of a media catalog, the original image will be unavailable for viewing at full size until it is dropped into the Thumbnails Window again and the media catalog resaved.

What is the Hide command?

Hide is used in the place of Close for windows which do not require a lot of time to recreate when chosen from the Window menu. The notable exception to this is the Thumbnails Window since it contains all information used by the other windows sans the font related windows. The following windows Close: Animation, Help, Slide Show, Image Windows, Movie Windows. The following windows Hide: Character Matrix, Installed Fonts, Media Info, Memory, Settings, Thumbnails, Tile.

What is the Print command?

For tuning your hard copy results, use the Page Setup... menu command and the Print panel of the Settings Window.

What is the Quit command?

The Quit command does not prompt you to save the contents of the Thumbnails Window. This was in the spirit of the original design goal, too many files, not enough time. In the future it will, but until then, be sure to export a media catalog if this is your desire.

What is the Copy command?

In the Thumbnails Window, the little picture in the currently selected thumbnail will be placed on the Clipboard. In the Image Window, only the visible, rectangular and magnified area of the image will be placed on the Clipboard.

What is the Search command?

You won't be able to view or properly export unavailable media files (indicated by a yellow bar above the thumbnail) but this command can perform an exhaustive search of the chosen volume(s) on the selection. This command will be dimmed if all the files in the selection are available. Check Always Search All Mounted Volumes To Locate Missing Files in the Miscellaneous panel of the Settings Window if you want QuickNailer to automatically locate moved files.
• It is possible that QuickNailer will not be able to locate the unavailable file if the file was renamed and moved to a different volume.

What is the Launch With command?

The application program designated in the Launch panel of the Settings Window will open the selected thumbnail's file. To select other software click the radio button. To change the program click the button. To add new software click the ... button. Executed with [ L].
• This can take some time if the launching program is slow to start up.

Example: The current thumbnail selection is an Adobe Premiere movie file. If Adobe Premiere is already running then it will open the file. If it is not, MoviePlayer 2.5 will be started up if necessary and then it will open the file.

What is the Reveal command?

This command directs the Finder to show the selected thumbnail media files' folders and select those media files. Executed with [ E].

What is the Move To Trash command?

A trash noise informs you that this command was successful. A red indicator will remind you that choosing the Finder's Empty Trash... menu command will now delete this file. Executed with [ T].

What is the Move To command?

This command will move the selected thumbnail media files to the folder chosen. If that folder is on a different volume from the file, then the file will be copied to that volume and placed in the Trash of the previous volume.

What is the Print selection command?

This command will print only the selected thumbnails.

What is the Find Similar Files command?

This command compares all media files in the Thumbnails Window. Thumbnails will be ranked according to exact matches between file name, file size, creation date, modification date, and/or the image.
Use the Find panel of the Settings Window to choose matching criteria.

What is the Find Colors command?

This command matches the color exhibited by thumbnails to the target find color. More identical colors rank higher. Use the Find panel of the Settings Window to select the thumbnail color determination method and how many thumbnail colors to compare.
• Color determination is slow only on the first search.

What is the Find A File From Each Folder command?

This command shows you a representative thumbnail from each different folder you have imported.

What is the Full Screen Slide Show At Beginning command?

A single selection acts as the starting point for the slide show. If more than one thumbnail is selected, then only those selected thumbnails will be shown in the slide show. See: How do I start the full screen slide show?

What is the HTML Index & Contact Sheet Divider menu?

Multiple HTML index pages or contact-sheet image files can be generated by choosing how many rows per index or contact sheet are desired. You can also do this by positioning the file divider gadget in the Thumbnails Window at the desired row to break between. Choosing All Rows In One File or clicking the top of the file divider gadget until it stops above the top thumbnail row, disables the file dividing feature.
